Poem about a girls struggle with her freckles.

Freckle Frenzy
By Yolonda Briggs
I wasn’t part of the “in crowd” at school.
I was freckled before freckles were cool.
Then Monique, the French model, took center stage,
And freckles became a national rage.
Overnight the sensation stormed Hollywood,
Now anyone who’s anyone knows freckles are good.
Brittany and Madonna to name just a few,
Know without the right freckles, you haven’t a clue.
The girls who spent money at tanning salons
Are screaming for refunds-those relics are gone.
A trendy new shop has appeared at the mall
Offering signature freckles to all.
A variety of freckles are yours for a fee
(Unless you are naturally freckled, like me!)
You can get them dyed on or get them tattooed,
Though the permanent method can be rather crude.
It can get quite expensive just to freckle a face,
But I have zillions of freckles all over the place!
Stock in freckling products is soaring sky high,
With brokers urging their clients to buy.
Designers will soon show their hottest new lines,
And everyone wants to be freckled in time.
The catwalk has called me. Where else would I be?
I pity the poor souls who are still freckle-free.
Skeptics predict that freckles won’t stay,
But I just don’t see them going away.
No matter what happens, I’m going to keep mine,
Because my freckles are genuine, top of the line!
