To just stand

As a black man

While black men are known for fighting and gangs

Black on black crime; street slang

But as a person defies you; a black man

You stand there; in the same spot you began

And have the tolerance to say the words

“I forgive you.”

That is what makes this man’s message so true

Under the control of nonviolent attacks

Martin Luther King Jr., found a way to fight back

Gahndi, freeing his people warless

And Mr. King following him more or less

Stood up and gave a brave speech

On a level only the wisest of men could reach

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up…”

Though, have we risen up to the where we’re suppose to?

Do you believe a black man has the right to oppose you?

And to think and learn about equality

No reason for apology

Unless you’re using it in the sense of defense

For something one strongly believes in

Then, yes, you better believe it

Is freedom ringing?

Like the request of Mr. King

Or is the freedom bell still broken?

Is the message unspoken?

Has equality reached each and everyone to whom he preached?

Well, let’s listen to the last words of his famous speech

“Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”

I think the freedom he freed is something unsurpassed

The freedom he died for has come at last
