This poem I wrote while ago. Somewhere in October but I didn’t publish it right away. This actually sounds somewhat of a song but I guess that is how I built it. Other than that, I built it off of metaphors of how I perceived as feelings before a relationship begins to take hold. I’ll leave it to the reader. Comments are open.
Freefall
The wind
Rushes out.
Are we ready
To do this
Once More?
Trying to Break
A Wild Horse
Isn’t Easy
But Who Said
It was Easy?
Just like Jumping
From an Airplane.
Fight your Fears
And just go Already.
Like looking down
A Skateboard Ramp.
Everyone
Wants to have fun
But they don’t know how.
Like all the Guys
Are on one side
And all the Girls
Are on the other.
Because no one
Knows the Salsa.
Like trying out
A Roller Coaster
Its Terrifyingly Fun.
Like trying to say something
But nothing comes out.
And as she comes closer
Your brain goes blank.
Everyone has a Pulse
Making it so damn Sensitive.
And the Urge
To cuddle close
To someone warm
Late at night
Is just hard to do.
With Butterflies
In the stomach
Because of a possible
Natural Reaction.
Like jumping
Without a Parachute.
The guys
Are begging for
One more
Kiss.
Just like we once were
When we were children
And we wanted a cookie.
And a smile
Brings us to life
And a kiss
Brings the Universe
To a stand-still.
And a nap
With our woman
Brings us
Far more security
Than our teddies
Ever did.
To all the
Single Folks
Just close your eyes
And let yourself
Fall.
