We were friends since a young age. Her mom and my mom were friends, you seen one you seen another. Everyone thought we sisters. Until we got older in our senior year and one of us start to change and one of us still wanted to be a young lady. There is nothing wrong with change if it’s for the good of the ones you love.

It didn’t matter if she wore my purse or used my dental floss.
We shared everything from shoes to lip gloss.
My hair was straight and her hair was curly,
everyone knew her as my best friend Shirley.
Her nickname was chocolate and mine was fudge
We were not bad kids but who am I to judge.
I like vanilla ice cream and she like strawberries,
I ate apples and she eats cherries.
Really we had nothing in common but we been friends since I was two
When she’s not around there is nothing to do.
I say it’s hot outside lets go for a swim
But she’d rather hang with her boyfriend Tim
I was 14 and unable to date
Our parents agreed that we both should wait.
She used me as an excuse to get away from her mom
and two weeks later she hooked up with Tom
She got with different guys day after day -again and again
But she said,”If you tell I wouldn’t be her friend”.
I yelled,”Be careful and please protect yourself
because with HIV(AIDS) there is no life ater death”.
She handed me a joint(DRUGS) and said”this will ease your mind”.
I walked to the door yelling you have gone to far this time
she said I’m sick of hanging with a snitch you have to go.
You either my friend or my foe.
