An original sonnet about kids dealing with disease.

“Hey Mommy, see that girl way over there?

The one that’s crying, sitting with her dad.

She looks just like a boy without her hair.

Hey Mommy, tell me why she is so sad.

“Don’t stare my son. That little girl is ill.

Its rude to stare. I know, you don’t intend.”

“But Mommy, please stay with me here until

I talk to her because she needs a friend.”

“I’m Billy. Can I sit here? Do you care?”

“My name’s Aliesha. Will you be my friend?”

“Yea, sure, but hey, what happened to your hair?”

“It all fell out because I’m sick again.”

“Well I like you and now I know your name,

so we are friends. You want to play a game?”
