Friends I Can’t Make
By; Seyifunmi Adurodola
He wants me to be a friend
To share his thoughts with me
To have us spent our time together
And reach some conclusions about issues
But he lies about every little thing
He’s never seen telling lie as bad
Sorry, that’s a friend I can’t make
He wants me to his friend,
He wants to have a place in my heart
He wants to share part of my time
But he is easily upset
He picks up argument at any little issue
And won’t drop it in time
Sorry, that’s a friend I can’t make
He wants me to be a friend
He wants to have me on his list of friends
And discuss what bothers him with me
He wants me to share his pain and pleasure
But his words are quite not positive
He swears at any given opportunity
He prefers to condemn and abuse another rather than correct
And only sees through his own eyes alone
No. That’s a friend I can’t make
He is polite, objective and positive
He knows the implication of every word he says
He listens to every word I have to say
He is truthful and ready to accept and correct his mistakes
And he is passionate about my needs
Yes. That’s a friend I will make
And must make.
