A lyrical poem about the course of life and losing friendships.
Friends Lost
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
Upon my throne I sit confused,
my friends once fair have gone I muse.
Life ensued and ate them up,
no fault of mine no act corrupt.
Just circumstance and marriage break,
has lost my friends and caused this ache.
For I am now alone it seems,
a product of my shattered dreams.
Abandonment has claimed my soul,
and left my heart a gaping whole.
Where once I loved and merry made,
now sits an empty cup I crave.
Once filled with wine as soft as silk,
it now is dry, bereft of ilk.
I miss those days of joy and fun,
where friends embraced and damage none.
But know that life has just begun,
I must accept and carry on.
Sometimes life just culls the heard,
and we must change not act absurd.
Let go of past and friendships lost,
re-enter life not count the cost.
For cycles come and cycles go,
and life ensues and heaven knows.
I must be strong and chances take,
to live my life and joyous make.
New friends will no doubt find me here,
alone no more, I’ll reappear.
