An original poem by Aubrey Lambach.

I can feel the bud unfurling now,

The bud that resides within me.

The same one that always did.

Sometimes, recently, though

I thought it had gone,

Leaving me.

But I was wrong.

You set it in motion.

You undid the wrong.

You made it right.

Fall had brought an end to

The summer that I had.

And then winter followed.

And stayed.

And I thought it would

Never leave.

But now I feel the spring breeze

Dance across my heart.

It gives  me hope

And courage.

And I cling, with all my strength, to the air.

The ever-changing wind.

But, I know I am still weak.

Just a delicate little bud,

Still growing.

One latent frost or blizzard

Will send me back

To the winter where I was.

Where I don’t want to be.

Sweet spring, your breath holds

Promise and

Possibility—

And the power to renew life within me.
