High cholesterol levels in the blood may be a risk factor for heart disease and blood vessels. Most causes of high cholesterol is from food, but the following fruits and vegetables actually good for lowering bad cholesterol.
Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in blood and body cells, and is an essential nutrient that the human body needs to perform its primary function. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), cholesterol is used to form cell membranes and hormones.
But most of cholesterol can cause a range of disease when cholesterol becomes bad. Dr. Kasim Rasjidi, SpPD-KKV, DTM & H, MCTM, MHA, SpJP, say a person has normal cholesterol levels if the size is 160-200 mg, while the incoming hazardous condition if it is above 240 mg because it can cause a stroke.
Here are some fruits and vegetables can help lower bad cholesterol in the body:
1. Pomegranate (Pomegranate)
Pomegranate is a super antioxidant that helps guard the body against free radical damage due to metabolic and environmental factors. According to the book Cholesterol Cures, pomegranate juice may slow the process of oxidation of LDL cholesterol (Low Density Lipoprotein or bad cholesterol) by 40 percent, thus lowering the buildup in the blood and arteries.
Pomegranate is also rich in polyphenols, flavonoids are present as common as cholesterol reducers found in green tea.
2. Lemons

3. Tomatoes

This increase is theorized that the flavonoids in purple grape juice inhibits platelet activity due to cholesterol, a substance in blood that help blood clot, may contribute to the development of heart attack by collecting on artery plaques.
