When the terror begins.

Falling back onto my bed as my neighbor inches closer to me
Wanting to scream but inside, I know that won’t do me any good
Reach out to me, grabbing me by the throat, now unable to see
Gagged with an old sock, unable to speak, wondering if she’s in a bad mood

Waking up in a dark room filled with more people, dressed all the same
Staring at me without blinking with their diolated black and white eyes
They’re all saying the same thing: I am the only one to blame
Scared out of my mind but choosing not to fight, feeling that wouldn’t be wise

The light shooting down at me from the rusty ceiling
My neighbor putting her hands on my head and heart, this could be the end
Feeling electric shocks throughout my body, knowing so well this is torturing
Seeing my scared spirit exiting my body, now I really can’t defend

Coming back to reality, waking up at home screaming with all my might
Parents rushing into the room yelling after hearing my frightening cries
Looking around, thankful it was only a dream, looking outside, it’s midnight
Unable to sleep, I thank my parents for caring for me…glad that I haven’t died
