Games I played, when I was growing up.

I played one, two, three, red light freeze, when a person say freeze that’s what you do.

Jack stones, you have a ball and some jacks, bounce  the ball pick up the jacks without dropping them.

Dodge ball, you try to dodge a ball thrown at you.

Hopscotch, you would take chalk an draw a diagram on pavement, throw a rock to go to the first block. Hoping to finish first to win.

Hide and go see, a person would close their eyes and soon open them up, then try to find you.

Simon said, that mean if Simon say jump, run, clap, holler that’s what you had to do. Simon is in control.

Tic-Tac-Toe, you would draw a diagram on paper a square with nine blocks, you would put X or O in the blocks. If you don’t have the same X or O hortizonal or vertical. The cat wins.

Jump rope, everybody know what this is.

Kick ball, where a person roll a ball to you and you kick it.

Hula Hoop, something you put around your waist and wiggly.

Horse shoe, a piece of steel you throw to go around a stake in the ground.

Pogo stick, a stick with two paddles for left and right foot. You jump up and down.

The reason, why I’m telling you about these games is because my kids and others don’t know what none of theses games are. I hope when you read this you know. These was the good old days.

I loved it! I played all these games as a kid. Love the Jack stones with the jack and ball, hopscotch was so much fun and hoola hoop. I still have my pink hoola hoop in my room. I use it to work out my abs. It works. great one!

The problem with your writing that sometimes I have is that I don`t know where to pu it. I read your wrtings under poetry, but at times they look and sound like pieces of prose or explanations of something or to do smething.

You write well most of the time, the truth is when to write poetry or call it poetry or put it under poetry and when not to do this.

Couldn\’t find my comment anyplace…maybe I moved on without hitting “submit comment”…sorry. Anyway, thanks for the wonderful trip down memory lane to some activities of my childhood…we need to teach these great activities to our children and grandchildren…much more beneficial and more healthy than being plugged into a computer for hours on end…
