Childhood can be fascinating and scarey at the same time. The weak, even in childhood, are teased and ridiculed. The weak and innocent always seem to get hurt.

bringing back memories
of paddy cake games
as we all once conjured up
an unwise decision to tease
the weaker of the bunch
and the child cried
all the way home
wondering why
the innocent get hurt
oh those childhood games
so innocent
yet painful
