Annie Hintsala has long been one of my favorite Triond authors. Her new book, Garage Sale From My Brain reminds me of all the best reasons to write in general, and to write poetry in particular.

Reading
The poetry
Tumbled from your heart

I remember
What it was to write
Dredging up what is inmost

Forging
Endless art
Of that messy business: Life.

Reading
Your emotion rendered
I manage to recall

Writing
Just for myself
And not for money

To choose
My own topics
To write with passion.

And I say:

This book has worth
And I will not throw out
The gleanings from this Garage Sale.

Beautiful poem – it stirs up a passion for words, the artistry of wordsmithing.

It is well written and useful after reading it has been realized. Thanks for the article.

That’s well done, Daisy. From the heart is the only way to write poetry and if it pleases the author the poem is priceless. Sometimes you don’t even know what it is you want to say until you sit down and start writing. You write half your poem and then it starts bubbling up from some place you know nothing about. Then scratch the first half and start writing your real poem.

Lovely verses from your heart. I can’t wait to see what you come up with on your summer break.

I am so embarrassed. I just now noticed this! Thank you so much. You are one of the only authors I still read on occassion at Triond, and feel like a big jerk that I didn’t notice this earlier. Cheers Daisy.
