Analysis of the poem “Garden of Love”

The poem ‘Garden of Love’ relates to Christian beliefs as the personification of ‘Love’ indicates Jesus. God is ‘weeping’ because garden of Love was ‘green’ and there were many ’sweet flowers’ but it became filled with ‘graves’ and ‘tombstones’. This story is similar to Adam and Eve’s story because when God made Adam and Eve, there were happiness all over the place but Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge which made suffering and death. All of them were sinful so God gave him the Ten Commandments. Man is now bounded with all the rules and regulations of the church. So man is depressed because all his joy is labelled as sin.
