A small boy talks with a pirates delight at discovering garden treasures.
I have a garden, just medium sized you know, like me
Gran gave me seeds, some tools and a little garden map
So, I planted corn and chose a space for the little lemon tree
Papa showed me how to rake and make for bugs, a water trap
Then I made my own earth hills for climbing beans and peas
Next came squash, cucumbers and sweet green peppers that filled two rows
Tomatoes then and marigolds to help bring the busy, buzzy, bees
Carrots and radishes plus a watermelon bump, big as all my toes
When its ripe, I’ll share my harvest treasures and teach my friends just like
Gran and Papa took the time to show me the how to care for every seed
Soon I’ll grow tall as this years corn but never loose my pirate like delight
As I happily search far and wide for all the seed treasures that I will ever need
