Here is a piece I felt a rather impassioned desire to submit, I enjoyed writing it, even if I wrote it a mildly reddened gaze.
Genocide, An ugly word for an ugly truth. We have witnessed this display of senseless destruction, just as our ancestors were forced to witness, and more often then not, ignore. And this oft shunned evil has never gotten better. We can never be desensitized to the outstanding evil which arises with every vile act committed. We may not be able to eradicate genocide, as victims of genocide are eradicated. But, by uniting with the just cause of the International Community we can come closer, and at least save the lives of thousands, who without our united aid would die pointless, unwarranted deaths. And maybe, if we can do more than just hem and haw over how to aid these pilgrims of suffering we can save millions in the years to come.
We must begin to step up and interfere with foreign idiocy. We cannot stand by and ignore what is clearly an unjust, and in fact immature, act against the whole of humanity. To shun all pleas for help is tantamount to murdering these beaten peoples, but for being the hand committing these malicious, pointless acts. It is still vicarious murder, plain to be seen by any sane eye.
We could try to lead the fight, but by including others we can prevent other genocides from occurring, if you take a hand in the prevention of any genocide, you are less likely to initiate your own. But on the contrary, taking the opposite approach and staying out of the issue would spawn further genocide.
As mentioned before, this issue is partial immaturity. Not a childish sort. But a misunderstanding of the consequences of ones actions based, unfortunately, upon baseless beliefs. We must seek to mature the tainted populace of the world who are immature enough to believe themselves superior, correct, or in any way just in ending the lives of a fellow human being. We are currently letting the bullies run the playground, but now it is time for the teachers to step in, it is time for us to intervene and de-escalate the situation; our intervention is the first step to the end of allowed genocide, that which we ignore, deny, and forget.
We must take direct action, and action is not always using our mouth, we must take a direct hand. We can not help with promises, except for those which we act upon. A promise is a series of helpful, hopeful words. But action, that is a single instance of us being helpful which can make our subject eternally hopeful, we need to step in, promote hope, and demolish prejudice and murder. It is time to fulfill the promise “never again” and take it beyond just words.
