A poem about domestic violence.

Get Out Now

The first punch,

is always the worst one.

After that,

there is always more to come.

It never stops,

regardless what they say.

I love you baby, I’m sorry,

until the next day.

The next day is always,

the same as the one before.

Being knocked to the ground,

 and thrown through doors.

You made me do it,

is just one excuse I’ve heard.

You can’t get any better,

is more of his words.

None of it is true,

and I know this inside.

Always looking for the next place to hide.

This isn’t fair,

life doesn’t have to be this way.

Is just something I repeat to myself everyday.

When you have no one that cares,

it’s amazing what you’ll take.

You picked the wrong one,

one of life’s mistakes.

We live and we learn,

life teaches us along the way.

Get out now,

if you want to live to see another day.
