Finding out what your limitations are and stretching them.

For the past few days I have been digging,
tedious hard work and I am a very tired lady.
But if I wanted my water pipe fixed at the house,
I felt I had to get dirty and do my part to help out.
(.)
The hours I spend shoveling was not wasted ,
I let my mind wander to a million and one places.
This time I was glad my mp3 player was broken,
it gave me time to put my head in a better prospective.
(.)
As each shovel full of dirt made its way to the surface,
I let go of the anger and aggression I had in my heart.
Whats done is done and nothing will change it now,
my best thing to do is move forward and let it all go.
(.)
I finally dealt with the anger of a break up that hurt,
now I have a peace of mind that its for the best now.
No regrets on either side since we learned from it,
we both now walk our own path from this day forward.
(.)
If I can dig a hole that was taller then I will ever be,
I can tackle other things that was beyond my reach.
Learning how to be a better fisherman is on my list,
maybe I will catch a real fish  instead of mosquitoes.
(.)
I was born with cerebral palsy and uses a cane to walk,
that don’t bother me since a walking cane isn’t a wheelchair.
Maybe I will use my income taxes to buy me a new bicycle,
I would like to ride a bike but it will be a challenge to do so.
(.)
If I don’t get fired for having asthma problems at my job,
I will use the membership I have at the gym I now work at.
I have had the membership for seven years and not used it,
this Spring and Summer sounds like a good time to start.
(.)
All the above mentioned plus some sounds like a tall order,
But the President was right when he said it was time for a change.
I didn’t know all it would take is several hours digging a big hole
to let me know what it might take to make me a happy lady again.
(.)
But if you was getting paid $20.00 a hour to dig a hole to fix a pipe,
you would use it to your advantage killing two birds with one stone.
But this time there was no biblical David and Goliath around this time,
just a beautiful  brunette in Illinois determined to get her life on track.

Good for you Payge. There is nothing like hard work for putting things in perspective and get lots of exercise at the same time.
    Lovely work.

I love it!! I would’ve never known you had CP. I work with children w/cp, autism, muscular dystrophy and I find it the most rewarding work in the world besides being a member of my family and a writer. That poem was awesome, I actually shed a tear there too. WTG!!!

Loved it! This something I may have to go through soon- I hope not with all my heart. I dream of us finding one another again. I have gone through other breakups that have turned out for the better. Don’t know if I’m ready for that all over again. Especially with everything that is going on in our lives right now. I know that we are soulmates- even if we can’t be together. Only time will tell. It’s time to Let Go and Let God- for all of us. Beautifully written.
