Ghost Horse writers Anne Severn Williamson and Hody "Longbow" Porterfield will appear at the 25th silver anniversary of the Montana Cowboy Poetry Convention.

This summer two authors from Ghost Horse Prairie Ranch near Valentine, Montana, will participate in the 25th Annual Montana Cowboy Poetry Convention. The popular event will be held at the Yogo Inn in Lewistown, Montana, during the weekend of August 13-15th. Tickets to the poetry readings and Western music presentations will be available in the hotel lobby on Friday and Saturday. Anne Severn Williamson and Hody Longbow Porterfield will share their homestead poetry and Native American reflections with the Silver Anniversary crowd. Many other fine Cowboy and Western artists, authors, and vendors will also appear as part of the weekend festivities. Grab your cowboy hat and boots and head on down to the Yogo Inn where Western art, gear, dancing, and entertainment await you!

Anne Severn Williamson, author of The Fairy Lore of Ghost Horse Hollow, will be reading from her new collection of poetry: Lyrics of a Homestead Life. The poems feature the writer’s thoughts on prairie life and horse ranch experiences. Anne and her husband Jack Williamson raise and train the remarkable blue-eyed Ghost Horses, whose bloodlines pre-date the American Civil War. These naturally gaited Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses and Mountain Pleasure Horses are the stars in The Holly King, Part I of the First Triad in the Ghost Horse Hollow series. The Holly King is attracting global support with nearly 130,000 hits on the book’s website: www.ghosthorsehollow.com The Holly King is similar to the The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter in genre. Nine novels are planned for the adventure series that is set in the Appalachian wilderness one hundred years in the future. Throughout the book series, Anne expresses her love for poetry. For the August convention, Anne will include two poems dedicated to the Ghost Horse mares and stallions. One of the selections, “Good Dog,” is scheduled to appear in the upcoming Cowboys & Indians Magazine online newsletter. www.cowboysindians.com

Hody Longbow Porterfield recently moved to Ghost Horse Prairie Ranch from Amarillo, Texas. Hody will be the special attraction on Saturday, the 14th of August, in the Yogo Inn courtyard. His poetry will include “The Buffalo is Gone,“ which was printed in a popular airline magazine. Mr. Porterfield was a treasured entertainer and tour guide for many years in Palo Duro Canyon, as well as the friendly host for the famous Big Texan Restaurant. Hody was featured in Waking Up In Reno with Billy Bob Thornton and Patrick Swayze. Longbow will be sharing many anecdotes from his movie experiences and from his living history presentations on Indigenous cultures and early American settlers.
