Why does it seem that there is always one person in the relationship who can’t understand that’s it’s really over?

Why are you in such denial?
Holding onto hope for you and I
What’s over is over – what’s done is done
I’ve had my fill and I’m through with it
We had a good run, you and I
But it’s dead and gone – buried
Not in the manner of a dog’s bone
To be unearthed again at a future date
Truly dead with only fading memories remaining
There will be no resurrection
Why do you want me to call you?
What purpose could it possibly serve
Other than to give you false hope
I’ve said my goodbyes and made my apologies
I have no words of comfort or consolation
There will be no outpouring of emotion
I will not say that I miss you
I’m living life and loving it
To say my plate is full would be
An incredible understatement
Perhaps you should find something
To do with your spare time
Something else to fill your idle mind
So that, like me, you will finally
Be able to move on with your life
To give it up and let it go.
