Why does it seem that there is always one person in the relationship who can’t understand that’s it’s really over?

Why are you in such denial?

Holding onto hope for you and I

What’s over is over – what’s done is done

I’ve had my fill and I’m through with it

We had a good run, you and I

But it’s dead and gone – buried

Not in the manner of a dog’s bone

To be unearthed again at a future date

Truly dead with only fading memories remaining

There will be no resurrection

Why do you want me to call you?

What purpose could it possibly serve

Other than to give you false hope

I’ve said my goodbyes and made my apologies

I have no words of comfort or consolation

There will be no outpouring of emotion

I will not say that I miss you

I’m living life and loving it

To say my plate is full would be

An incredible understatement

Perhaps you should find something

To do with your spare time

Something else to fill your idle mind

So that, like me, you will finally

Be able to move on with your life

To give it up and let it go.

Okay who has pissed you off and refuses to take no for an answer. I don’t want to make you mad. Well maybe this isn’t you but I am sure this will help someone else get their point across. Nice!

I’ve been on both sides of this situation: the one who could not let go and the one who wanted nothing more to do with any of it.

Yes it is easy to see both sides of it. Time has away of breaking the mind free

Lovely poem. Show this to the person who doesn’t understand your feelings and he should definitley be able to get the message. I had experienced a similar situation about 10 years back.

The harshness of truth. Sometimes the only way. Excellently written as well.

When you are in a relationship, you are onlyas happy as the least happy person in the room.

There we are… the same pic! :) Nice to see our minds work in the same way sometimes!
Very well written poem. Sometimes it’s hard to come out from a relationship. This happens… often. Rightly said.

Sometimes there is no option but to tell it how it is, especially if one partner is not willing to listen and wants to live in the past.

It’s very difficult to let go when you really love someone, but I can understand how you feel. A good poem.

It is diffecult for both to come out of a long and serious relationship,
but if there is nothing left in one person, then there is no point in dragging the relation by the other one. Its tough but we need to learn to move on.
    nice piece!

    Regards,
    Priyanka

Time alwasy tells and moving on from something that isn’t working for you is best and part of growth. Knowing this is half the battle, well said!

  • AlmaG on Feb 18, 2010

It makes me wonder why some men who decides to leave a relationship would tell their girl… “move on” then when the girl do exactly that (moving on), guys become revengeful and they’ll do stupid things to show that it was they who hasn’t moved on.

Haven’t I brought about living ghosts? As Melinda Gordon put it, “move on, follow the light”. Maybe some people need more than Ghost Whisperers.

Nice Poem and reality talk! This sort of things do happen in relationships. But if we hold on to that memories we would not be able to move on with life.
