If we are to spend our last day on earth, how would we want to spend It?
Give me one more day
To watch the sun appear
Slowly over the horizon
Allow me to bask
Under the soothing freshness
Of my last morning
Let me drink in the gentle scent
Of wild flowers in the fields
Let me taste the sweetness
And feel the coolness
Of fresh gentle showers
And let me live that day through
Till I can behold my last beautiful sunset
And before I yield this life
Let me hear the laughter
Of those I hold dear
Let me flash my be-dimpled smile
As in their presence I linger a while
Before taking my last breath
Allow me to behold
Those dearly beloved faces
And let peace settle among us
And when it’s time for my heart
To finally beat its last
This I ask of you
Spare me no grief, shed me no tears
But send me off with a smile
A memory of a blessed life
And a prayer of gratitude in your heart
