This is a poem showing a man being in love with an orphan and wanting to make her his companion. All the struggles and confusions in her are what she asks him and finally, he gets what he wants.

I asked you for your hand

You said you were scared

You said you were illiterate

I told you I’ll educate you

I said come with me and I shall cast away your fears

You said you were ugly

I replied nothing seemed more beautiful to me than you

You said you were poor

I said you were my wealth

You said you were dying

I stated even death can’t do us apart

You said the world is cruel and cold

I assured you that when we’re together, that cruelness and coldness can’t do anything to us

You said you won’t be able to conceive

I asked you why I would need a baby when you were there

Finally, you gave me your hand and nothing mattered anymore to me.
