Satirical, political poem about spending cuts and political blame culture, poor spending decisions and poor priorities.

Budget deficits, spending cuts, Labour blame SNP -

SNP blame Labour – proud boasts of income tax/

Council tax freezes.  Near-record-low inflation,

‘Economic recovery’, 0.5% growth!

That’s all very well.

Service cuts, staff cuts, non-delivery or cutbacks

Of community provisions, childcare, adult learning,

Education, IT, arts and crafts.

Priorities wrong at Government & council levels.

Battered old Budget box, battered reputations

Of MPs and Councillors – duck pond, moat cleaning,

Tree planting, helipads, bath plugs, porn cable TV,

Phantom mortgages, ‘fact-finding’ holidays.

Plenty of money for rich, no money for poorest

And most vulnerable in society.

William E. Gladstone must be turning in his grave.
