A poem about my last adventure as a girl scout. Dedicated to the one who took us- Glenda.
Once upon a time,
Not too long ago,
Lived Glenda the Good Witch
Who was well known.
She had two daughters
Who she loved so
She taught them the secret
Of love, happiness, and all there is to know.
Then a group of young girls
Who had no leader from whom
They could learn
Now deeply desired
Now deeply yearned
For a leader like Glenda
To teach them all she knew
About the secret of
Love, happiness, and friendship, too.
When they asked her,
She looked into each pair of eyes
And said yes she would teach them
And to their surprise
She kept that promise
And it wasn’t long before
They loved what Glenda taught them
More and more.
She took them to places
Of magic and love
To do many things they’d only
Dreamed of.
They saw the big castle
Where the founder Daisy and her family grew old
That was filled with wonders and stories
And a ghost, or so they were told.
They went on a walk
In hopes of seeing some ghouls
And were told tales of people
Whose fates’ were cruel.
Those girls screamed and cried
But they had so much fun,
And then the next day,
They soaked up some sun.
They got to see dolphins
Swim in the magical sea.
And they even met
An evil monkey.
Then one day
They decided to show the community
Just what they could do.
So with Glenda’s help
They set out
To help the community
With no doubt.
With help from each other
And a few extra hands,
They touched lives
Throughout the land.
Some of those girls came and went
But felt that time with Glenda
Was time well spent
For she showed them
Things they never knew
By doing things
They never thought to do.
She showed them love
And she showed them she cared
Just by being someone who’s there.
They can now grow up
With the secrets they learned
Form the leader they once desired,
Once yearned.
They can go into the world
With the kindness and love
Shown to them by someone who
Was sent from above.
Thank you, Glenda
For all you have done
For the lessons you taught
And for the passion that’s begun
In the hearts of these girls and even me.
And after all these years,
We finally see
That if it wasn’t for your
Love and strife,
We would never know
Just what to do in life.
