This poem was written January 9, 2006. One of many VW trips.

A leisure drive on highway 1
gazing out at the ocean
whale fluke in the distance
white foam, swirling, hitting the shore
overview looking out to sea
majestic waves call to me
the bus takes each curve
with gentle caress
as those in a hurry, stress
waves break a top the rocks
dancing, teasing, never stop
Cal Trans clean up slide debris from recent storm
sea lions lying in the sun
resting up from past work done
two sea lions at play in a pool
reminded me when my kids were small
hitting, splashing, yelps
hard to imagine poaching for pelts
stopped to eat in Moro Bay
do we dare take time to
stop and play
