A poem about life without my dad.

I rush to bed

to fall asleep.

I know what lies ahead

I’ll see you.

In my dreams

you hug me.

And tell me I’m alright

I need that.

When you’re here

I am ok.

You are like my security blanket

we are safe.

There is noise

I open my eyes.

Just to find it is morning

and you’re gone.

I am awake

and I realize.

I can always see you when I dream

but life goes on.

So I’m dealing

with your death.

Even though I miss you daily

I go on.
