There’s a crowd that ran before us;

Now they sing around the throne.

Soon we’ll join them in their chorus,

Gladly sing their victory song!

Daily helps us in our task.

When the world’s torments abide us,

They will help us, if we ask!

There’s a crowd that runs behind us.

Can they truly call us friend?

Looking back, let them remind us

To stay faithful to the end.

Should we fail them on the journey,

No baton to them to pass.

Will we see them sadly turning?

Will they finish right at last?

Bless the Faithful Hand that leads us,

Fills each day anew our cup.

But the eyes of men proceed us.

Will we go on, and not give up?
