Goodbye, my precious, dear mamma –
Goodbye, my sweet, dear part of me! –
Poem:
Good Bye, my precious, dear mamma –
Good Bye, my sweet, dear part of me!
Death hovers now above your bed,
But is ashamed near you to be.
For it does not diminish you,
Nor triumph in its victory;
Fear not, my precious, dear mamma,
Fear not what God has meant to be.
Your eyes are closing, dear mamma;
I’m here beside you, look at me,
While there is little time to spare,
There is still time for company.
No heavy bag and baggage of
Your pain and suffering be with you,
Only one your soul shall bear –
Your love so tender, warm and true!
I see a shine across your face
Which death can never take away,
Nor touch before it must complete
Its fateful mission of the day.
Soon must I choose the path that Love
Has paved for me so specially,
That I shall cross from time to time
In my domain of memory.
Good Bye, my precious, dear mamma,
Good Bye, my sweet, dear part of me,
Death might presume it conquered you –
Your body, not your soul so free!
