A poem about struggle, hope and success.
Even the coffee isn’t working at dawn
Banged up and burnt out
The morning came early again this morning
Rise and shine
Be your best
Put on a happy face
It’s cold
It’s dark
It’s a quarter after five
With nowhere to hide
Be strong little solider, we’ve come all this way
Can’t be weak now; it’s not an option
Watching people stoppin to join the party
I’ve checked out of my room
No mint on my pillow
No hint of my fellow
Man
Enjoying the passing parade
Deaf, dumb and blind to all those charades
Strong willed of character is how I’ll be made
Screw it, I can do it
Motivation is all those times I blew it
In the past, livin fast
I had a blast knowing deep down it couldn’t last past the last dance
No more late nights; boozing and losin
The fight against the light no more being high as a flying kite
I made it, turned the corner
I won’t look over my shoulder, won’t be a mourner
The chapter is closed; the book is finished
More laughter than lows; that life has diminished
