Gentle hands of kindness to strangers, building internal goodness…

“Human goodness comes from within
seeing this requires, looking beneath the skin
reach out a hand to the helpless and give.”

My thought was to focus on the goodness
of all humans, though as I review past events
of humanity, there is little goodness left.

The pulling together of the masses occurs
only after or during the mighty disasters, that
plague the people who live by-carelessly on this rock.

No longer do people extend themselves, offering
gentle hands of kindness to strangers, building internal goodness
that lies beneath the skin within the hearts of humans.

Individually people continue to have goodness kept
for those close to them, ones they call family and friends.
To all others; be lucky to receive a simple hello!

You have definitely touched on a very good point. Things keep changing, and it doesn\’t seem to be in a very community-based way. Narcissism is growing, for sure.

That’s a sad commentary on our species, but even more sad…so so true. Helping use to be a way-of-life; each family instilling the value in their children and passing from generatin to generation…not so any more. Just thinking..you started out with patterned phrases and the poem developed into more prose….was that your intent?
