Part three in a four part series on the book of Ruth in the Bible.

When Ruth came there to Boaz,
She used the right approach.
Naomi had given instruction,
How she must the subject broach!
Abandoning all thought of self,
To submissively come she deemed
Not caring whatever others thought,
Or of her self esteem!
She aimed to surrender herself to him,
So at his feet she lay,
That he would wake and find her there,
Before the break of day!
Surrendering her person,
Her stand, and all she owned.
Desiring to claim, embrace his grace,
She’d come that night from home!
For my need, there’s just one answer.
Thy skirt spread over me.
Cursed am I and need redemption,
Near kinsman that thou be!
And Boaz gives assuring words
Rejoicing in her plea,
That if the other cannot redeem,
It is HIS guarnatee!
And telling her not to make it known,
He let her go at dawn.
Desiring thus to guard her name,
Till he could carry on!
And bade her hold her veil out,
And filled it with grain to feed
Thus loading her with benefits,
That he may meet her need!
She’s changed now in her person,
That her mother does not know.
“I’m Ruth” and she proceeded
All his kindness thus to show!
She’s changed now in possession
“Go not empty to thy place,
Let me fill thy veil with barley”,
Now sit still, embrace his grace!
Rest, and trust, till thou shalt see,
How the matter thus will fall.
He’ll not rest till it is finished,
And thou mayest embrace it all!
