The awesome experience and priviledge of beholding the face of a second generation must be beyond words for many especially first time grandmothers like me..

A head full of lustrous black curly hair

Long athletic feet, graced with cute little toe nails

That look like glacier ice topping  on a cake

Bright black eyes staring at a strange but wonderful new world

Behold my second generation, he is way beyond all imagination

Words failed me, as I whispered a hearty welcome into his little ears

 Welcome indeed to our world

What a time to make your debut

A troubled world though it may seem

Wars , earthquakes, global warming,  recession, hate and crime

The price of liquid gold making people nervous of what the future holds

Some may be born to be part of a problem

But you I hope would be  part of the solution

Who knows what he would learn tomorrow

Better I hope than what we know today

So I place my finger in his tiny hands

He grabbed it as one who has received a mantle

To continue the race and conquer the world

A new generation of hope to an ailing world

He looks amazingly grand and beautiful

My new grandson, sure makes me feel real  Grand

Guess what, I am the newest and happiest Grandma around.

Oh, what a lovely post. Congratulations on your beautiful grandson. Let us hope that he will grow up in a better world than we have today. Such a well expressed piece.
