This is a little fable that I actually enjoyed writing. The message of the piece is based off of a belief of mine that “Mankind doesn”t deserve the prospers of nature’. That is in this little short story fable. I hope the reader enjoys. Comments are open.

The Green Trees

I’m tired of saying ‘Once Upon a Time’. Therefore, I will not say ‘Once Upon a Time’ for this is a lame line out of the lame fairy tales of ‘The Grimm Brothers’. This is more off of a legend and a true story and somewhere of everything in between. However, what is the definition of the word ‘between’? This is perhaps something that one is unsure of? To perhaps categorize something that is either here nor there? There is something that is perhaps here nor there. Where it is everywhere but only there.

They are known as Green Trees and they are very rare to find in the world. If they are there anymore, then they haven’t been touched by the impurities of man. This could be described as a luscious green meadow with a steady gushing river with the cleanest water and to drink it would be from the most purest stream known to man. Not to mention the peach, apple, and cheery trees and butterfly bushes and other bushes of every other kind. With tulips and roses that bloom out every coming spring and summer season. And during the winter, it is practically a winter wonder as the snow lays undisturbed and falling among the trees. It truly is a place where nature has slept throughout time. Yet one may ask how does this relate to any other experience? That is where the purpose of this piece comes into effect.

A man and his beautiful lover went for a stroll in the forest. They were led around by a steady path, however, after a while, they got lost and eventually lost the trail itself. It was overcast for a chilly November day and thousands of red, orange and yellow leaves littered their path. Branches that hung from the trees began to block their path and they began to occasionally go around any branches that were skewed out in front of them.

The clouds began to roll past as the hours crept by until they came to the very heart of the forest. As a result of walking and dodging skewed branches, they began to become very tired and travel-weary. This went on for a short while until an elf appeared behind a tree. He was clean in the face as well as formal in his dress and only as tall as up to the man’s knees. He smiled greatly and said that he has watched them in his forest. They seemed unstoppable at no matter what object that he threw at them on their way towards his domain. Therefore, he was to reward them for their troubles.
