A poem about life, growing up and growing older. With photo accompaniment, for enhancement.

Growing up and Older

As a child we love to play

Being grown up is far away

As we enter youth we can hardly wait

To walk through the adult gate.

In our twenties we know it all

Scorning tradition and protocol

In our thirties we’ve learned a lot

But still think we are pretty hot.

Forty comes creeping upon us

We start to examine what is honest

At Fifty we begin to yearn for the youth

We once spurned, and for truth.

At sixty balding, white or gray

We wish we had the ability to play

At Seventy with wisdom and experience behind us

We understand what we can trust

At 80 and 90 if we make it that far

We look for answers in the heavenly stars

Yearning for the child we once were;

And youth with wisdom thats for sure.

We know not what life will throw at us;

So we learn to cope and not to fuss

Until we finally take our last breath;

And we are at last laid to rest.
