Life of a farm girl.

Image via Wikipedia

I grew up in the country,

and I lived on a big farm.

My home was a white wooden house,

that my Grandparents built themselves.

We had a red barn for the cows,

and we drank water from a well.

Tall oak trees shaded the front yard,

the fence always needed repairs.

We had a large round silo,

and a root-cellar for canned food.

The fields were planted in crops,

corn was grown for the animals.

My Grandpa drove his tractor,

he loved to bale the hay.

We put out feed for the livestock,

placed a scare-crow in the corn patch.

We had hired hands to harvest the produce,

and some even helped my Grandpa bale the hay.

We took our ripe produce to the market,

where we would sell it every year.

Very nice, Darla. I bet you miss the simple life! My husband grew up on a farm and he is extremely disaplined completely opposite of me. That is one of the things that attracted me to him. Farm life is good for the soul. Thanks for sharing.

I grew up in the cite and always hated it. I would have loved to grow up on a farm.. except I would have cried when the animals would have gone to the markets.

With factory farms on the rise, how many kids will have memories like this?
