A short poem about recovery of mind, body and soul. A never ending journey taken down the twisted roads of life.

Growth From Within

Tearing it out, bringing to the forefront the new

Putting together the pieces is comfortable to very few

Making it fresh, a metaphor for my life

Nobody said it was easy, but recovery is all about insight

I build the wall, make it tall

Strip the paint and add the tile

Memories rush through my head, things could have gone differently

I could have ended up dead

I feel better, I really do

It is just that learning everything again can take its toll on you

Fixing things that I dismantled on my own

Making my resolve as strong as the stone

That I use like this life has used me

Take the road less traveled; they say

Yet they are forever puzzled when I have strayed

Come around to a truth that I have defined on my own

As hard as the journey is, this chance will not be blown
