A poem about living in the Hawaiian islands.
Yes, another day in Paradise
Chapters unfold of a new life
shallow wastelands fallow now
In stead a fertile ground
This time it’s good and beginning growth
Still at times frustrations are about
Honolulu ever paradisical in spite of additions
brightness of the golden sun glints off mirrored windows
noon is no longer siesta time
picturesque palms greet the maddening rush
hint of old Hawai’i everywhere you seek
Pa’u riders pau till holiday
Men still on top in business and surf
Prominent women look so unseemly.
*Pa’u refers to the Hawaiian wrap around skirt worn by women and in this case while riding horseback
*pau: finished, “pau hana” finish work, end of day
