Some follow the traditional 5-7-5 syllable pattern, others are just short poems.

Period

An end

And a beginning

Autumn once again

Crushed and slowly dying leaves

Turn the sidewalk red

What can you do when

The air smells different and

You feel so lost

Forgotten spider

Slowly spins another web

Just another day

A late summer breeze

I wish it could take me to

Somewhere I don’t know

An old jack-in-the-box

Collecting dust

Too essential to throw away
