It is not one haiku, but four, since each stanza is designed after the 5-7-5 syllable system.

four stanzas each representing a certain stage in the wonderfully complex process that is love: the moments it hits you, shaking you to your very core, shattering the ground beneath you; the moment when words can steal your breath and promises can make you fly; the passion and lust, the fire, the glory; the eternal feeling of proximity and pure, untainted LOVE.

Trembling beneath me,

The earth when I see you near

Shattering my fear.

With your tender vows

Your breath, the sweetest fragrance

My being endows.

Embrace my desire,

Engulf me in sacred fire,

Be my heart’s attire.

Let us flow at ease,

On waves of a gentle sea

Eternally free.
