    Lilacs have a very special place in my heart. One of the homes that we lived in when we first came to New York had massive lilac bushes on both sides of the driveway and in the back yard. Along with the apple and pear trees, the garage and barn, it was a childhood playground like someplace that Winnie the Pooh would have lived.
    And the scent of lilacs …ahh!
