By Bryan Wegman.
Remember when we used to walk
In a world split in half
The green valley glowing
The empty blue sky
Perfectly splitting the world
Where we could hide out in the open
And no one would ever find us
As you stare as far as your eyes can see
The grass sinks into the sky
Flapping wings spread formation v
You never looked so beautifully
Remember the holes we dug
When we were young
Convinced we could dig to a new place
Far away from here
Where we could be together forever
With no parents to discipline us
No one to tell us we were too young
Just our shovels and dreams
And our young imaginations
We dug ourselves a home
Were we could finally be alone
Remember the nights we stayed up late
Drinking coffee from sunset to sunrise
Sitting on my front porch laughing
At the people passing by
Talking of how we wanted to be something big
Time passed by so fast we forgot our obligations to this life
Blood shot eyes and a hard days work that I wished would just end
Then we get out and sit on that porch all night again
If I were to have slept and dreamed
It wouldn’t have been as beautiful
We were living the most beautiful fantasy
Remember the time you first fell for me
We were walking home together
Glasses of wine still in are hand
You screamed at that taxi
Fuck you man
You stumbled to your left
And it knocked me to the ground
We lay there for a moment
Staring in each others eyes
We kissed until we saw those bright red lights
We ran to my house and you stayed the night
Remember the time I got you that ring
I told you I was going away to pursuit my career
You took off running without even saying goodbye
I searched everywhere for you, but you were gone
I finally found you on the swings in our old backyard
You told me it was for the best that we go separate ways
Both sitting silent with nothing to say
I got down on my knee and you had no idea why
I pulled out the ring and you began to cry
Promise to be together till the day we die
Your finger glistened in the half moon, half lit sky
