When Halloween starts to frighten you…

It’s all Hallows’ Eve
And it’s the night when we call come out
as ghosts and ghouls.
I hear hollow sounds – these footsteps follow me
Menacingly. Help!
The velvet night closes in on me,
but the shiny cheese-like moon lights up my path,
The moon is my star, guiding me along the path.
And its perfect roundness
Its beautiful symmetry
I stop for a moment because I hear these unwelcome sounds,
I feel fear inside me,
the ghosts and ghouls.
The spooky apparitions swirling around, ethereal, in the sky -
They are invisible to me. They live in my mind.
Pumpkins with eyes neatly cut out,
Their stare is unwelcome and eerie. This gaze disturbs me.
A cobweb rubs over my face,
I look around, and I sense more footsteps,
My heart beats and the cold envelops me.
I finally arrive at the party,
And I pop the champagne cork ,
for a happy Hallowe’en.
