No one has come back from Hell to tell us what it’s like.. all we can do is imagine what horrors it holds.
You’re drowning in the dangerous darkness of death
Don’t fight the sensations taking over you. “Don’t hold back”
You’re trapped. You need a way out. You try to run from the fear
Of being frozen in this never ending moment of nothing.
A door opens slightly from the far side of nowhere
It’s strange red glow looks dangerous yet welcoming.
You’ve stopped in your tracks, but your feet still move on
As an invisible force lures you towards the lucid light.
A thousand thorns prick the souls of your fee
And the sweet tingle of pain sends shivers down your spine.
A voice so sombre and soothing whispers gently into your ear
“Welcome”. Its greeting so warm, but so bloodless.
You stand back a while and inspect your new home
“Take a deep breath and smell the sinister stench of sin”
It makes you choke, but you welcome it into your lungs
Because you know soon the same sinful stench will reek from your body too.
You think your eyes have deceived you but even your
Skin has sensed the horrors of this horrendous haven
But the burning smell of blood which fuels the fire of Hell
Is so addictive. “You need to get closer. You need to feel the heat”.
Surrounding you seems to be a sea of mutilated bodies
But you need to touch the truth to believe you’re not dreaming.
Curiosity slowly starts to overpower you. “Go on. Do it”
Stroke the scorched skin of a soul-less being.
You know you shouldn’t be here. “Why don’t you turn back?”
There’s fear with you but you’re already addicted to the gentle pain
Throbbing in your body. Like gentle music it makes you sway
And so you dance in the bloody rain the corpses offer you.
You shouldn’t have done it. “But you did”. You drank from the cup.
You’ve tasted the thickness of Death’s own blood. “Sssshhhhhh”
Stand still. Listen to the lingering lullaby of the living dead.
“Listen!” Can you hear the silence of a suffering soul?
