My dear father; though we haven’t always agreed;

I have watched you work hard all of your years to succeed.

I have witnessed when you have picked yourself back up after life has only brought you sorrow;

How you have kept a positive attitude about a better tomorrow.

I have noticed your growth of wisdom as the years have gone on;

You have always had your day planned before the new dawn.

I admire your persistence and energy;

You are a fine example of what a Dad should be.

Though your children have long ago left your nest;

You have not treated this time as an opportunity to rest.

You have always had dreams that are grand;

You have done so much on your own and so much with a helping hand.

You are respected by so many who know your name;

I’ve never met another Dad who is quite the same.

Know that I’m thinking of you with memories that are fond;
