A new year starts

as another one ends

with kisses and hugs

to loved ones and friends.

We all make promises

like losing weight

quitting smoking

or finding a date.

We forget to thank god

for those that fight for our years

the women and men

who face their worst fears.

This year we should hold our glasses high

to those that fought in the war

remember our freedom

is what they were fighting for.

Make resolutions

and promises we can do

like not take others for granted

and start life over new.

Look inside yourself

and be the best person you can be

as the new year begins

positive changes start with you and me.
