Sometimes friends just need someone to listen.
It’s been a long time now,
But it’s hard to just let go,
Some things long to remember,
Others, she wish not to know,
Middle of night, up without cause,
Told be quiet, do no start to cry,
Tell all the flaws, you felt about her,
When in bed, she just wanted to lie,
Home from work, just sat and drank,
Wake her up again each night,
Then woke her each day at 5 AM,
In her mind, she wanted to take flight,
Get sis up and ready, then off to school,
Then would fall asleep by heater on floor,
So sleepy she was, so tired her body,
Tonight she knew, it would start once more,
School would call, where is she at,
When you got home, she heard the news,
She was sleeping, not doing anything bad,
You cared not, as she got the shoes,
Many years not knowing, the reason why,
She often thought, “Why just me?”,
She swallowed hard, held back the tears,
Felt that this is just, how it was to be,
She finally got used to the routine,
Then one day, up out of the blue,
Without even speaking a word to her,
Sent her to relatives she not knew,
Alone, scared, and wanting to go home,
She remembers the day you left her there,
Crying in the bathroom, not saying goodbye,
You drove down the road, without a care,
She told me that it turned out for the best,
They treated her like part of their family,
She soon no longer felt that hurt each night,
I agree when she said “Was the best for me”…
