You can feel the presence beyond the grave of people who die unexpectedly, and this poem shows how much death can affect loved ones or those close to you.

Haunt

Like a shadow in the darkness, I am hidden from your view
Like rocks upon the ocean floor, concealed beneath the blue
A dawn of red flutters gently through a vibrant indigo sky
A tint of yellow, a deeper red, upon these beds of rye
But I’m not there, not in the clouds nor in the rye
I exist solely in, your poor troubled eyes
The sun litters gold onto the lush valleys below
While the birds start to sing and the winds start to blow
A trickle, a wave, then begins in the meadow
The birds stop their singing, and the winds start to slow
This break in the silence, makes your whole body shiver
Like a dip in a pond or even in a cold river
You sense my presence yet somehow you can’t see me
You look all around, while you yell, beg, and plead me
A tear drop escapes as you stare to your side
Your hands cover your face, the tears that they hide
To keep them from looking, because your heart knows…. I’ve died
