This poem I wrote for abused women, who you see in the world all too often staying with the men that abuse them because they are so controlled by that person they believe they love them.

He’ll beat the hell out of you
Time after time
Until he’s broken your spirit
As though you’ve commited the crime
Have the courage
Just walk away
Or he’ll just do it again
Another day
Don’t listen to your heart
Listen to your head
You don’t deserve the abuse
Have the courage
To leave instead
Living in hell
Do you call that a life
You don’t need him
You weren’t born for his strife
Don’t accept what he does to you
He’s made you feel small
To imprison you
There’s no love at all
You can do better
It wouldn’t take much
Look in the mirror
See the bruises
Give yourself a loving touch
Pick up the phone
There are places to help
He doesn’t care
That he makes you yelp
Have the courage
Break the bonds
Unlock yourself
From all his cons
Have the courage
To say what you think
Even though
He’s made you believe
Your gonna sink
Have the courage
To say how you feel
Your not alone
Your not made of steel
Have the courage
Don’t wait until your halfway dead
You’ll be saving yourself
By thinking ahead
