A love poem.
When consumed by sadness
I do retreat to thoughts of our future selves sitting peacefully on a couch
Your head on my head
With mine on your chest
A smile on our lips
And a sigh with every other breath
We’d watch the news
Or just dreamily stare into the air
So settled and comfortable
Not a thing to fear
It is a beautiful sight
Soothes me every time
If only it were possible
But I doubt it’ll ever be mine
Take you for granted
I undoubtedly would
Make you cry with my callousness
Acting like no one in love should
Perhaps it is a gift
That our lives are as they are
For this way my haven remains intact
And you can continue to wonder about me from afar
