People say it’s terrible when there’s three people in a relationship, but what about when there’s only one. Here’s a poem about finding out that you don’t really matter.
He And She Aren’t We
It’s not as easy as she’s made it out to be,
he and she should make up we but she see’s only she,
he can’t look in the mirror cause she won’t like what he’ll see,
what he’ll see is the truth of it,
and that’s that he and she aren’t we.
So far away from home,
just a young man and so alone,
her tonge has cut him half a life,
how long has she been his wife,
he’s already given more,
than she will ever need.
He won’t look in the mirror,
as it won’t make things any clearer,
he won’t like what he’ll see,
what stares back is his reality,
he’s already seen much more,
than needed to be seen.
It’s not as easy as she’s made it out to be,
he and she should make up we but she see’s only she,
he can’t look in the mirror cause she won’t like what he’ll see,
what he’ll see is the truth of it,
and that’s that he and she aren’t we.
He keeps his heart upon the shelf,
he just won’t listen to himself,
because he knows what he holds dear,
is not what he will hear,
he knows he’s already heard much more,
than he ever thought he’d hear.
He knows she’s going to get things wrong,
he knows she has done all along,
and now he’s given her another chance,
she’s sealed his future in advance,
but he’s given, seen and heard so much,
what difference does it make.
It’s not as easy as she’s made it out to be,
he and she should make up we but she see’s only she,
he can’t look in the mirror cause she won’t like what he’ll see,
what he’ll see is the truth of it,
and that’s that he and she aren’t we.
He thinks he’s a little wiser now,
no – just a little older somehow,
he ponders ‘what may the future bring?’
will he get back his first, his last, his everything,
he still hopes that he can bring to her,
all the joy that she used to bring to him.
It’s not as easy as she’s made it out to be,
he and she should make up we but she see’s only she,
he can’t look in the mirror cause she won’t like what he’ll see,
what he’ll see is the truth of it,
and that’s that he and she aren’t we.
